Proper Handling
Ice 101: Essential Handling Tips
STORING
To maintain freshness, store our ice in its original packaging. If cubes clump, gently separate them with an ice pick. Ideal storage temp ranges from 0°F to 20°F, prolonging lifespan but requiring longer tempering in the glass before adding liquid.
TEMPERING
To prevent cracking, allow ice to temper slightly before use. Untempered ice feels dry, while tempered ice feels wet. Place the cube in your serving glass first; it should temper within 30 to 60 seconds.
Transportation
To transport our cocktail ice safely, keep it in its original container. For trips over 45 minutes, consider using 4-5 pounds of dry ice to extend transport time up to 24 hours. Handle dry ice with care to avoid burns. Ensure good ventilation.
Handling
There are three safe methods for handling ice: with bare hands, tongs, or an ice scoop. Treat ice like any food item, ensuring clean hands when touching it directly. Tongs are best for larger pieces, while an ice scoop is ideal for smaller cubes and crushed ice.
REFREEZING
You may refreeze tempered ice for future use. Just be sure to keep the ice pieces separated to prevent them from freezing together into a single block. This way, you can maintain the quality and usability of your ice for a longer period.
STAMPED ICE & ENGRAVED ICE
All custom ice should be tempered like regular ice but pour the drink beside, not directly onto, the cube to preserve the customization. Crafted by engraving the ice, shavings, and refreezing, our custom ice maintains its design integrity.
